Two killed in wrong-way crash on I-10 near Vinton

UPDATE: As of 10:25 Deputies confirm the wrong-way driver died at the scene. A helicopter was called in to try to transport the man, but after several attempts to revive him, EMS crews declared him dead.

Deputies said the drivers of both cars were male, between the ages of 20 to 30 years old.

Also, officials said there was a child’s car seat in one of the cars but did not confirm there was a child there.

UPDATE: As of 9:40 p.m.: All traffic diverted off I-10 at Vinton exit. 

A deadly crash on Interstate-10 Eastbound near the Vinton exit claimed the life of one person Monday night just before 9:00.  

A spokesperson with the El Paso Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death and said that a car was traveling the wrong way on I-10 when it crashed head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle is reportedly in critical condition.

 The crash happened between Canutillo and the Westway exit.  Traffic is being diverted off Interstate-10 eastbound as of 9:30 p.m.
