Orleans deputy killed in I-10 crash

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office says an off-duty deputy died in a two-car collision on Interstate 10 in eastern New Orleans.

Police say 35-year-old Brunell A. Magee was eastbound Sunday morning when his car veered over the median into westbound traffic and struck a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old man.

Magee was taken to Interim LSU Public Hospital, where he died.

Police say the other driver is at the hospital and in stable condition.

Sheriff Marlin Gusman said Magee, who was assigned to the McDaniels Work Transitional Center, joined the sheriff’s office in 2010.
