NOPD officers injured in Sunday morning crash


Three New Orleans police officers suffered minor injuries early this morning in a crash on eastbound I-10. According to Officer Frank Robertson, between the Esplanade and Orleans exits about 2 a.m. when a vehicle crashed into three parked police cars, injuring the officers.

According to Officer Frank Robertson, the officers were investigating an accident near the Esplanade Ave. exit about 2 a.m.

He says a vehicle crashed into three parked police cars, injuring the officers. They were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

34-year-old Percy R. Smith was the driver of the vehicle that struck the officers. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Operation, Disregarding the Officers Signal and Hit and Run.
