Motorcyclist hurt in crash on I-10 at Queen Creek Road

A motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash that closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 at Queen Creek Road on Wednesday morning

The motorcyclist was going faster than the flow of traffic, clipped the rear of an SUV and was thrown from his motorcycle onto the roadway, said Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Raul Garcia.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital by the Gila River Fire Department, Garcia said.

The crash closed the westbound lanes until just before 10 a.m., according to an Arizona Department of Transportation spokesman.

Eastbound I-10 remained open throughout the morning, ADOT said.
