At approximately 3:10 a.m., police responded to the I-10 and I-65 interchange for a report of a single vehicle crash.

“On scene, police discovered a pickup truck was in the interchange from westbound I-10 to northbound I-65 when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a light pole,” according to an MPD press release.

The sole occupant of the vehicle, 40 year-old male, was pronounced dead on the scene. Police have not identified him yet.

“It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash. Speed combined with weather conditions are contributory factors. Also, the driver was not wearing a seat belt,” the press release states. “Traffic Homicide Investigators will continue their analysis of the crash.”
