KFOX: Las Cruces pastor killed in I-10 crash near Vinton – Las Cruces Sun

EL PASO Employees at a Las Cruces church said their pastor was killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 Monday night, our media partner KFOX14 reported on Tuesday.

The accident happened near Vinton.

The driver of a gray BMW X3 was allegedly driving the wrong way on the eastbound lanes when it crashed head on into a maroon Toyota Sienna, officials said. The two drivers were the only people in the vehicles.

The driver of the Toyota showed no signs of life, while the driver of the BMW had a faint pulse, officials said. A medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the BMW driver, but he died at the scene and was not air lifted.

I-10 East near Vinton was closed for about 6 hours, officials said.

Employees at Grace Bible Church told KFOX that Josh Allen, 30, was one of the victims in the crash. Allen was a pastor at the church for about four years and employees told KFOX they learned about the accident because he didn’t show up where he was expected. Employees told KFOX that Allen was driving the right way when he was hit by the wrong-way driver.

Employees told KFOX that Allen leaves behind an infant son and wife. His wife’s birthday was Tuesday, KFOX reported.

Police have not confirmed the identity of the victims in the crash.
