HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
Police say an impromptu low rider car show led to a hit-and-run accident along the North Freeway.
It happened at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday near I-45 at W. Dyna. According to the Houston Police Department, dozens of drivers gathered in a strip mall parking lot to show off their rides.
A passing minivan driver slowed down to look at the car show and was struck from behind by a Ford Mustang. The impact sent the van into an electrical pole, knocking it down and breaking a water pipe.
The driver of the Mustang ran away on foot. Police believe they may have been intoxicated as open beer bottles were found in the vehicle.
One person suffered minor injuries but refused to be transported to the hospital.
HPD cleared out the parking lot after the crash.
