Five-year-old ejected from vehicle flown to Houston hospital – KFDM

BEAUMONT – Beaumont police say a 5-year-old — ejected from a vehicle during a crash on I-10 near Chili’s Restaurant — has been flown to a Houston hospital due to the severity of her injuries. Police say the girl wasn’t in a car safety seat.

On Saturday, the child’s mother was driving westbound on I-10 and lost control of her vehicle, which later rolled over several times, police say.

Police say the 5-year-old would not have been thrown from the vehicle if the child had been in a car-seat.

A second child in the car was in a car-seat and remained in the vehicle.
Officers say the woman lost control, exited the freeway and the vehicle rolled a few times before stopping.

The woman is charged with child endangerment.

We’ll update you on the child’s condition as more information becomes available. UPDATE: Five-year-old ejected from vehicle flown to Houston hospital
