Crash on Interstate 10 East at Lomaland creating traffic jam

Click photo to enlargeUpdate: One person was transported to an area hospital following the crash this morning on Interstate 10 East and Lomaland, a police spokesman said.

The person’s condition was not available.

The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations unit is on the scene and handling the investigation.

The crash has closed several lanes of traffic on I-10 East, including parts of the Gateway East.

Traffic has been backed up on both sides of I-10, according to TxDOT cameras.

No other information was available.

Previous: An early morning crash on Interstate 10 East at the Lomaland exit ramp has blocked several lanes of traffic and is causing backup past Zaragoza.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation information page, the crash occurred at about 5:30 a.m. and is considered a major accident.

Police have four lanes of traffic, including parts of Gateway East, closed.

No other information is available at this time.

Man jumps from car, is struck and killed on I-10

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Emergency crews had to shut down westbound Interstate 10 at two separate locations Sunday night.

The first incident happened at 59th Avenue where a man jumped out of a moving vehicle and was struck and killed by another car, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The car’s driver stayed at the scene and waited for police, DPS said.

The freeway was also closed at I-10 and Riggs Road, according to DPS.

Two tractor-trailers and another vehicle crashed, causing one of the semis to roll.

DPS said the drivers suffered minor injuries.

No other information was immediately available.

Fatal crash at I-10, Pine Forest Road

ESCAMBIA CO., Fla. — One person was killed in a crash Friday night at Pine Forest Road and Interstate-10.

Florida Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Rachel Lawson was traveling westbound on I-10 just after 9 p.m. Friday night and attempted to exit at Pine Forest Road.

Lawson lost control of her vehicle and struck a power pole.

A crash is causing backups on Interstate 10 about 12 miles west of Salome Road, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

At one point, lanes in both directions were closed at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

By late afternoon, one lane reopened in both directions at milepost 69. One eastbound and westbound lane will remain closed while crews work to clear the roadway

Drivers should avoid the area because of prolonged delays. It’s not certain at this point when the entire highway will reopen.

No other information about the scope of the accident is currently available.
