Family member speaks about deadly I-10 crash

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A devastating weekend for one valley father, his 3 children, mother, and sister were all killed in a car crash on the I-10.

The crash happened on Saturday just north of Picacho Peak.

Investigators say the driver of a pickup truck lost control, crossed the median, and crashed into oncoming traffic.

The fathers name is Larry Curley. The crash killed his mom Shelly Blackmore, his sister Danielle, his three kids; son Tyler, age 12, 9 year old Kayla, and 7 year old Breanna.

His dad Tracy Blackmore remains in the hospital and is recovering.

Curley’s family, except his dad, all died in a horrific crash on I-10 north of Picacho Peak.

DPS officers say Larry’s father Tracy Blackmore was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck when it lost a tire. The truck then crossed the median and was hit by a semi and another car.

“You know my dad always works on the truck and had brand new tires on that vehicle,” said Larry Curley.

“We are a very safe family and always wear seat belts, but because of that high impact,” he said.

It is an almost unimaginable loss. “I mean I am not burying one of them, I am burying my whole family,” he said.

Larry is grateful for those who tried to save their lives.  “I do know that there are a lot of people out there helping and I wanted to tell them thank you,” said Curley.

Curley plans to set up a bank account at Bank of America to help with funeral costs for the Blackmore-Curley family.
