El Paso County sheriff officials released the names of the two men involved in a deadly wrong-way crash Monday on Interstate 10 in West El Paso County.

Joshua Allen, 30 of Las Cruces, was driving a Toyota Sienna at 8:45 p.m. on Interstate 10 East near Vinton when he was struck by Jesus Barrera, 24, of Bayard in a BMW X3, officials said. Both men died at the scene of the accident.

Barrera was allegedly driving the wrong way on I-10 East when he crashed in the Allen, officials said. Deputies are still investigating the crash and toxicology results are still pending.

Allen was a senior pastor at the Grace Bible Church in Las Cruces, said Monica Bland, the cousin of Allen’s wife, Shelly Allen. Shelly Allen was not immediately available to discuss the accident.

Allen had a 10-month-old son and had been a pastor in Las Cruces for about four years, Bland said.

“He was a very dedicated man,” Bland said. “He was an amazing person, who served the community through God. He was a very godly man and just a great guy.”

Donations are being collected for the Allen family, Bland said. Money and checks can be dropped off at the Grace Bible Church, 2801 Missouri Ave., in Las Cruces, Bland said.

Bland said an online collection is also up at powerofhopeministries.org. All donations collected will go to the Allen family, Bland said.
