4 vehicles involved in I-10 rollover

THE NO REFUSAL PROGRAM BEGINS TODAY AND WILL RUN THROUGH SUNDAY. FOUR VEHICLES INVOLVED IN A CRASH THIS AFTERNOON ON THE NORTHWEST SIDE. NO WORD ON WHAT CAUSED THIS CRASH, BUT ONE VEHICLE ENDED UP ROLLING OVER SEVERAL TIMES NEAR HILDEBRAND AND I-10. ANOTHER VEHICLE INVOLVED RAN FROM THE SCENE. THE DRIVER IN THE VEHICLE THAT ROLLED OVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL. NO WORD ON THEIR CONDITION. A MOTHER AND BABY IN THE OTHER CAR WERE CHECKED OUT AT THE SCENE AND RELEASED. NO OTHER INJURIES.

PHOENIX — A highway near the heart of Phoenix was reopened Thursday after being closed by a crash, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The southbound lanes of State Route 143 were closed at Interstate 10 by the crash for about an hour.

The collision blocked access to eastbound I-10 and 48th Street. Traffic was detoured to westbound I-10.

Northbound traffic was not affected by the crash.

Police: 5 killed in crash involving a semi-truck on I-10 in Arizona

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Public Safety says five people have died in a crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 10.

The Arizona Republic reports (http://goo.gl/0vXF5Q) that the five, including three children, died Saturday evening after their pickup truck collided with a semi-truck.

DPS spokesman Sgt. Raul Garcia said 49-year-old Shelley Renee Blackmore and 20 -year-old Danielle Blackmore were pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed were children ages 12, 12 and 8.

Garcia says the driver, Tracy Blackmore, was taken to a Phoenix hospital with serious injuries.

Police say all were from Gilbert, Arizona

Authorities believe the tire tread on the front left tire separated, causing Tracy Blackmore to lose control of his truck northwest of Picacho Peak.

Garcia says the man driving the semi-truck suffered minor injuries.

2 women, 3 kids from Gilbert killed in I-10 crash

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Five people returning to the Valley from a day trip to Tucson are dead after an overnight collision involving three vehicles occurred along eastbound I-10 north of Picacho Peak, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

The victims, all from Gilbert, were identified as:

  • Shelly Renee Blackmore, 49
  • Danielle Blackmore, 20
  • Tyler, 12
  • Kayla, 9
  • Breanna, 7

A pickup truck driven by Tracy William Blackmore, 47, of Gilbert, was traveling westbound near Milepost 213 when the front left tire tread separated, according to DPS spokesman Raul Garcia

Blackmore lost control of the pickup and it traveled left across the depressed dirt median and then entered the eastbound traffic lanes of I-10 where it collided at an angle with an 18-wheeler, Garcia said. 

A third vehicle, a passenger car, struck the pickup truck, Garcia said.

Tracy Blackmore was airlifted from the scene and is in critical condition at Maricopa Medical Center. The remaining five passengers traveling in the pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler suffered minor injuries and was transported by ground from the scene to Casa Grande Regional Hospital and then transferred to Chandler Regional Hospital.

The co-driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

The driver and passenger of the third vehicle were not hurt.

The right lanes of eastbound I-10 have reopened near Picacho Peak following the overnight fatal crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.  

The left lane of the freeway remains closed at milepost 213, about two mile east of State Route 87. There is no indication at this time when the left lane will reopen. Delays remain possible in the area.

ORANGE —
At approximately 6:30 a.m., there was a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 at the 858 mile marker in Orange County.

The driver of a Chevrolet SUV was traveling eastbound in the westbound traffic lane. Once the driver realized she was traveling the wrong way, she attempted to make a u-turn across three lanes of traffic and was struck by a Chevrolet pick up that was traveling westbound.

The driver, 81-year-old Lolita Dunaway-Key of Florida, and her 80-year-old passenger were transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the pick up truck was also transported to St. Elizabeth with minor injuries.

This crash is still under investigation and there are no further details at this time.

COLTON: Single-vehicle crash blocks lane on I-10 – Press

A vehicle that hit a center divider wall was blocking traffic on Interstate 10, a CHP incident log states.

The crash was reported at 6:04 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, on the eastbound side west of Rancho Avenue. The driver struck the center divider and came to rest in the middle lane, the log states.

A witness reported to the CHP that the driver had blood on his face, and an ambulance was summoned.

NEW ORLEANS — A 35-year-old man is dead after an accident on the interstate Sunday morning.

The accident happened at about 6:25 p.m. on I-10 West near Irish Bayou.

According to NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot, the man was driving on I-10 when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons. The vehicle crossed the median and hit a car driven by a 61-year-old man.

Flot said the 35-year-old man died at the hospital.

Fatal crash on I-10 claims the life of Dallas man

PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) –

A fatal crash that happened early Thursday evening on I-10 eastbound near Highway 415 has claimed the life of a Dallas man.

The man has been identified as 26-year-old Roberto-Carlos Rivas.

Police say the crash occurred as 24-year-old Devin Spence of Carriere, MS was driving a van eastbound in the right lane. At the same time, 39-year-old Demetrius Brown of Houston was also driving eastbound in the right lane in a tractor trailer.
