All lanes open on I-10 East in Central El Paso

Traffic update 7:25 p.m.:

Interstate-10 East at Copia is now open.

Traffic remains congested and some traffic lights are down in the area.

Traffic update 7:10 p.m.: Two lanes are now open on Interstate 10 East near Copia in Central El Paso. I-10 West is open. Heavy traffic congestion is still reported on I-10 East as far away as Resler Drive.

Update 6:40:

I-10 westbound lanes are open, according to the police scanner.

The El Paso Fire Department reports that no injuries have been reported in the crash on Interstate-10 and Copia.

About five firefighting vehicles are at the scene to secure the downed power lines.

I-10 is closed in both directions at Copia in Central El Paso.

Update 5:50:

Texas Department of Transportation said that I-10 West is also closed at Copia. Westbound traffic is backed up to Hawkins Boulevard on the East Side.

Update 5:45 p.m.:

Texas Department of Transportation said that it could take up to six hours to clear accident on the Interstate-10 East near Copia because there are power lines on the road.

Traffic is backed up to Sunland Park Drive and is being detoured off the freeway at Executive Center.

Interstate-10 is closed in Central El Paso because of an accident, according to emergency radio traffic. Police said that I-10 East and Gateway East are closed at Piedras Street. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

An accident reportedly knocked down a pole and power lines onto the freeway. Traffic is at a standstill.

Traffic is being diverted off at Executive Center.

Drivers should take alternate routes.
